Arash Shirinbab, master of Arabic and Persian script calligraphy, will be visiting October 21-22, 2017 for a weekend of workshops, an artist talk, and a calligraphy demonstration as part of our 6th Annual Juried International Show of Contemporary Islamic Art at the Irving Arts Center.

Saturday October 21:

  • Children’s Calligraphy Workshop 10am-12pm, IAC meeting rooms.  $10 Admission. Purchase tickets here.
  • Artist Talk 4-5pm, Dupree Theater. Free admission.
  • Calligraphy Demonstration 5-6PM, meeting rooms. Free admission.

Sunday October 22:

  • Adult Calligraphy Demonstration 2-4pm, meeting rooms. $20 Admission. Purchase tickets here.

Arash Shirinbab is an award winning artist and calligrapher who has managed to be a successful blend of an award winning artist and Arabic-Persian calligrapher as well as art administrator, art curator, and entrepreneur for the past ten years. He has participated in over 70 exhibitions (over 10 solos) nationally and internationally in the U.S., Spain, Poland, Canada, Russia, France, Italy, and Iran; such as the Triton Museum of Art in California, the Kunsthaus-Berlin-Marbella Center in Spain, and the Saadabad Palace in Tehran. Shirinbab has led over 4 dozen public art programs, has curated 5 international exhibitions from over 1,500 submissions, and has conducted over 2 dozen calligraphy workshops and demonstrations including workshops at Fremont Main Library in California, University of Toronto in Canada, and masterclass at the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy in Moscow.
